Oman’s Housing Ministry launches Sultan Haitham City Award during Youth Forum

Muscat: The Sultan Haitham City Award was inaugurated this evening under the name “Footprints”, during the youth forum entitled “Where Dreams Flourish” and was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning at the Royal Opera House Muscat.

His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, said that the Sultan Haitham City Award is a gift for all young people to contribute to the development of their ideas and provide opportunities for them to participate in translating and applying them on the ground, and to be a starting point for smart and future cities and the role of youth in sustainable development.

His Excellency explained that the award embodies the meaning of speedy implementation, touching on the city’s features and stages of construction, investment opportunities in it, and the vision for designing its logo and identity. His Excellency reviewed the cities that have been approved and the upcoming future cities similar to the city of Sultan Haitham, and the objectives of its establishment, and that young people must take advantage of the opportunities that are the basis for success.

He pointed out that the idea of ​​​​the city began in December 2020, with the hope that 60% of the project would be delivered within the next ten years, and that during the coming months of September and October, a special marketing center will be established for the Sultan Haitham city, in addition to that, loans will be provided in soft installments from a bank.
