Muscat: The Sultan Haitham City Award was inaugurated this evening under the name “Footprints”, during the youth forum entitled “Where Dreams Flourish” and was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning at the Royal Opera House Muscat.
His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, said that the Sultan Haitham City Award is a gift for all young people to contribute to the development of their ideas and provide opportunities for them to participate in translating and applying them on the ground, and to be a starting point for smart and future cities and the role of youth in sustainable development.
His Excellency explained that the award embodies the meaning of speedy implementation, touching on the city’s features and stages of construction, investment opportunities in it, and the vision for designing its logo and identity. His Excellency reviewed the cities that have been approved and the upcoming future cities similar to the city of Sultan Haitham, and the objectives of its establishment, and that young people must take advantage of the opportunities that are the basis for success.
He pointed out that the idea of the city began in December 2020, with the hope that 60% of the project would be delivered within the next ten years, and that during the coming months of September and October, a special marketing center will be established for the Sultan Haitham city, in addition to that, loans will be provided in soft installments from a bank. During the ceremony, a visual presentation was presented showing the details of Sultan Haitham’s city, the latest that was designed with artificial intelligence technology, the city’s close integration, the city’s location, planning, design, geographical nature and details, as well as a video presentation on youth’s views and aspirations towards the future of cities and tomorrow’s Oman, and a dialogue session was held with the youth. His Excellency concluded by saying, addressing the youth, “Take advantage of life’s opportunities where dreams blossom.”
Al-Waleed bin Zahir Al-Hinai, an entrepreneur, said that he aspires for the city to be sustainable and in the service of Omani youth, and has a focus on local added value, as a percentage of the project serves entrepreneurs with a leadership card and specialists in construction and design, and the contributions of young people to this edifice will be a great addition to them. Haitham bin Muhammad Al-Busafi, an architect, added: “As an architect specialized in the field, I am proud of the city of Sultan Haitham, and its modern design and orientation that integrates nature with the needs of the Omani society. .
