Oman’s imports of vehicle spare parts sees decline of 29.1% by end of 2023

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s total imports of vehicle spare parts by the end of 2023 amounted to 114 million, 228 thousand and 842 Omani riyals, a decrease of 29.1 percent compared to 2022, in which the value reached RO 161,106,945 million.

Data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information indicated that the total weight of vehicle spare parts imported by the Sultanate of Oman last year amounted to about 27 million 277 thousand and 859 kilograms, compared to 35 million 412 thousand and 989 kilograms in 2022.

The United Arab Emirates topped the countries supplying vehicle spare parts to the Sultanate of Oman in 2023 with a value of 46 million, 87 thousand and 362 Omani riyals, followed by Japan with a value of 41 million, 59 thousand and 972 Omani riyals, then Thailand with 6 million, 703 thousand and 240 Omani riyals, and China with 4 million. And 577 thousand and 181 Omani riyals.

The value of the Sultanate of Oman’s imports of vehicle spare parts by the end of 2023 from the United States amounted to 3 million, 960 thousand and 225 Omani riyals, from Germany 2 million, 881 thousand and 560 Omani riyals, from Qatar 1 million, 165 thousand and 388 Omani riyals, and from Korea 1 million, 104 thousand and 296 Omani riyals, while the value amounted to Italy 779 thousand and 721 Omani riyals and from Taiwan 627 thousand and 589 Omani riyals.

On the other hand, statistics showed that the total value of the Sultanate of Oman’s exports of vehicle spare parts in 2023 was about 92 million 102 thousand and 47 Omani riyals, a decrease of 15.3 percent compared to the value of exports in 2022, which recorded 108 million 745 thousand and 551 Omani riyals.

The total weight of vehicle spare parts exported during the past year amounted to about 40 million, 978 thousand and 39 kilograms, compared to 36 million, 708 thousand and 741 kilograms in 2022. The United Arab Emirates came at the forefront of countries importing vehicle spare parts from the Sultanate of Oman last year, with a value of 39 million, 124 thousand and 647 Omani riyals, followed by the United States with a value of 8 million, 226 thousand and 528 Omani riyals, then the Czech Republic with 7 million, 67 thousand and 772 riyals. Omani and Singaporeans, with 6 million 414 thousand and 358 Omani riyals.

The value of the Sultanate of Oman’s exports of vehicle spare parts by the end of last year to Australia amounted to 4 million, 315 thousand and 490 Omani riyals, to Hong Kong 3 million, 972 thousand and 117 Omani riyals, to the United Kingdom 3 million, 916 thousand and 380 Omani riyals, and to China 3 million 61 thousand and 651 Omani riyals. While the value of exports to Mexico amounted to two million and 477 thousand and 899 Omani riyals and to Slovenia two million and 92 thousand and 607 Omani riyals.

It is noteworthy that the total number of institutions and establishments operating in the activity of selling spare parts for motor vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman in the year 2022 reached 3,202 institutions, distributed among 259 institutions in the activity of retailing used spare parts, 1,900 in the activity of selling new spare parts for vehicles, and 841 in the sale of spare parts. Used vehicles and 202 in selling spare parts and supplies for heavy engine equipment.
