Oman’s Inflation rate hits 2.06% in November 2022

Muscat: The inflation rate of the Consumers Price Index (CPI) in the Sultanate of Oman stood at 2.06% during November 2022, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The data indicated a rise in the prices of main groups in November 2022 compared to November 2021, such as food and non-alcoholic beverages by 5.01%, restaurants and hotels by 4.02%, health by 3.82%, furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 2.14%, miscellaneous goods and services by 1.65%, clothing and footwear by 1.48%, recreation and culture by 1.26%, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.84%, transport by 0.55% and education by 0.05%. Meanwhile, inflation declined in the group of communications by 0.06%.

Prices also went up for oils and fats by 19.98%, meats by 9.24%, milk, cheese and eggs by 7.24%, fruits by 5.75%, non-alcoholic beverages by 5.23%, bread and cereals by 4.59%, other foodstuff by 2.71% and sugar, jam, honey and sweets by 2.41%.

Prices dropped in the main groups of vegetables by 3.48% and fish and seafood by 3.38%.

As far as governorates are concerned, Al Buraimi recorded the highest inflation rate of 3.38%, followed by A’Dakhiliyah by 2.75%, A’Dhahirah by 22.1%, Muscat by 2.02%, North Al Batinah and South Al Batinah by 1.95%, North A’Sharqiyah and South A’Sharqiyah by 1.72% and Dhofar by 1.68%.  – ONA
