Oman’s Interior Ministry launches the “Intakheb” application for voters to vote

Muscat: The Ministry of Interior has launched on Tuesday the “Intakheb” mobile application for voters to vote for the elections of members of municipal councils for the third term.

His Excellency Sayyid Hammoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Interior, sponsored the launch of the application, in the presence of the Chairman and members of the Main Committee for Elections of Municipal Council Members.

This application allows the voters to cast their votes to choose who represents them in the membership of the municipal councils easily and conveniently. The voting day for voters outside the Sultanate of Oman will be on December 18, 2022, while December 25, 2022, will be the voting day for voters inside the Sultanate.

The Ministry stated that the application available on electronic stores for smartphones can be downloaded :

His Excellency Dr Ali bin Amer bin Ali al-Shaithani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of the Technical Committee for Elections of Municipal Council Members for the Third Term, indicated that the “Intakheb” application is a quantum leap and digital transformation in the electoral aspect, as it will facilitate the electoral process and save time.

Intakheb application requires the availability of a smartphone equipped with the “NFC” feature, a connection to the internet, a valid ID card, and that the voter be registered in the electoral register.
