Oman’s MERA issues statement after heavy rain expected from Sunday


Muscat: Ministry of endowment and religious affairs (MERA) calls on in-charge of mosques, Holy Qur’án schools to take necessary precautions during heavy rainfall expected tomorrow.

In a statement MERA said:” In view of what the weather maps show – according to the relevant bulletins – that the atmosphere of the Sultanate of Oman was affected by an air depression starting from Sunday Shaban 1445 AH corresponding to February 11, 2024 until Wednesday 4 Shaban 1445 AH corresponding to February 14 2024, and the chances of thunderstorms expected during that period It may reach very heavy temperatures, accompanied by active winds and hailstones falling in a number of governorates.

Therefore, we draw attention to the necessity of informing all those in charge of mosques, Holy Qur’an schools, administrative buildings, and endowment agents of the necessity of taking the necessary precautions against shutting off the electrical current according to the necessary situation, ensuring that the windows and doors of mosques and mosques are tightly closed, and taking the necessary measures regarding furnishing external edifices in a way that achieves the safety of the people and those in charge of them.
