Tourism development projects Kicks off at Suwgra Village in Al Jabal Al Akhdar

Muscat: Tourism development projects for the Suwgra Village in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, kicked off today. The projects are being carried out within the context of cooperation between the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and a local community company in the village of the Suwgra.

The plan seeks to enable the village to improve its tourism services and facilities, with the overall objective of converting it into an attractive tourist destination.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

Besides promoting tourism in the village, the step reflects the ministry’s keenness to encourage local communities to invest in the development of tourism facilities and services that enrich the experience of tourists.

The projects include the opening of a 450-metre-long mountain path that benefits adventure tourism enthusiasts. The Suwgra Heritage Inn was opened as part of the inaugural ceremony. The project will enable tourists to experience the old lifestyles of the village.
