Oman’s Minister of Commerce: We have sufficient stocks of wheat

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, affirmed the availability of sufficient stocks of wheat and took all necessary measures to secure its availability during the coming period.

His Excellency Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said during his meeting this evening with merchants and entrepreneurs in the Wilayat of Muttrah that the government of His Majesty the Sultan has paid great attention to the consequences of the pandemic and the damage it has caused to the economic situation in general and to merchants and entrepreneurs in particular and has taken many incentive measures.

His Excellency added that the Ministry believes that the shops in the historic Muttrah market should be run by citizens, just like in the rest of the traditional markets in the Sultanate of Oman, such as Nizwa Market in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

During the meeting, a number of merchants and entrepreneurs presented proposals and ideas aimed at stimulating commercial and economic activity in the Wilayat of Muttrah, in addition to some measures related to the Invest Easy system.

The meeting was attended by Mohsen bin Khamis Al Balushi, Advisor at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Deputy Wali of Muttrah, and Their Excellencies members of the Shura Council, representatives of the state and members of the Municipal Council.
