Oman’s Ministry clarifies about Royal Decree allocation of land for renewable energy and clean hydrogen projects

The Ministry of Energy and Minerals said that Royal Decree No. 10/2023 to allocate land for renewable energy and clean hydrogen projects identified ranges of land areas suitable for renewable energy and clean hydrogen projects.

The ministry stated, through a publication that this will enhance the development of the necessary infrastructure for this promising sector, and maintain the competitiveness of green hydrogen production in the Sultanate of Oman and the confidence of investors in the demand for investment opportunities in it, and what is reliable in it. The Sultanate of Oman’s plans to enhance energy security, economic diversification programs and environmental preservation.

The ministry added that this is a step towards regulating the renewable energy and clean hydrogen sector, and the contributions of the Sultanate of Oman with the countries of the world in the efforts of energy transition, in addition to taking coordinated steps to reduce global warming.

The Ministry indicated that the most important contents of the Royal Decree; It is defining the areas designated for green hydrogen projects in accordance with the Royal Decree, which provides planning for the infrastructure for investment in this sector and enhancing its competitiveness, in addition to clarifying the terms of reference and roles with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the Oman Hydrogen Company and investors, with an emphasis on the principles of competition, equal opportunities and publicity in investment in the hydrogen sector. And a parallel mechanism to deal with the announced projects and align them with the regulatory framework. In addition, the royal decree specified the mechanism for allocating and contracting investment opportunities in clean hydrogen, which enhances the confidence of investors in this promising sector.
