Oman’s Ministry issues first Maritime certificates of proficiency

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, represented by the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs, issued the first Maritime Certificate of Proficiency, which authorizes its holder to work on board commercial ships as an “Electro Technical Officer”, in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, STCW78, in its amended form.

This issuance comes within the Ministry’s efforts to enable the national workforce to work in local and international shipping companies.

It is worth noting that the issuance of the certificate takes place after the applicants fulfill the training requirements and submit to the oral and written exams that are conducted at the Ministry.
