Oman’s Ministry Issues Six Licenses to Manage, Operate Docks

Muscat: Represented by the General Directorate of Ports, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced granting six licenses to five companies to manage and operate docks for tourist and commercial purposes.

The Ministry pointed out that four tourism licenses were awarded to the following companies: Al Marsa Travel and Tourism company in the Wilayat of Diba in the Musandam Governorate (dock length 250 metres), Saraya Bandar Jissah company “Muscat Bay” in Muscat Governorate (dock length 105 metres), Muriya Tourism Development company (Jebel Al Sifah) in Muscat Governorate (dock length 864 metres) and Muriya Tourism Development Company (Hawana Salalah) in Dhofar Governorate (dock length 482 metres).

The remaining two licenses were awarded to manage and operate marine docks outside commercial-purpose ports went to the following companies: Oman LNG company in the Wilayat of Sur, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate (dock length 150 metres and Shorooq Marine Handling and Navigation company in the Wilayat of Sur, in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate (dock length 305 metres).

By awarding the licenses, the ministry seeks to offer backing to the sectors of ports, shipping and logistics, as well as the tourism, commercial and industrial sectors in Oman. The step also aims to organize the sector of ports and marine docks, upgrade their standards and align them with global maritime safety requirements.
