Oman’s Ministry launches electronic platform for natural gas requests

Muscat: The Ministry of Energy and Minerals launched an electronic platform for gas requests that allows receiving and responding to requests from companies wishing to allocate and purchase natural gas for their existing or planned projects in the Sultanate of Oman, in line with the government’s approach to electronic transformation and providing the ministry’s services efficiently and effectively.

The electronic platform allows receiving requests for the purchase and allocation of natural gas from new investors and existing consumers for industrial use, sending initial gas allocation conditions, receiving approval from investors or consumers, following up the status of the request with the relevant authorities, in addition to the possibility of sending notes and receiving responses and updates about gas requests.

Investors can benefit from the platform’s services through two stages, the first: submitting the application electronically gasapplications.mem.gov.om  and the second: responding to the investors after processing the application, as the application is studied by specialists in the relevant authorities to verify the requirements, controls and other application details.

Qassem bin Muhammad Al-Amiri, Acting Director General of Marketing at the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, said: This platform reflects the government’s efforts and its pursuit of electronic transformation with the aim of facilitating the provision of services to investors and the public in general. He explained that the gas requests platform is a shift in the mechanism of receiving requests, processing them and responding to investors from a manual process to an electronic process that allows tracking requests and following up their procedures with specialists.
