Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth organized today an introductory session on the Ambassadors Program, which was launched by the Ministry in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), with the aim of expanding youth participation in the process of social and economic development in the Sultanate of Oman, and its role in providing Young people the necessary knowledge and skills to involve them in international and regional conferences, events and meetings.
The session was held at the Youth Center in the presence of Hilal bin Saif Al Siyabi, Director General of Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Marwan bin Yusef Al Balushi, Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Nasser Al Hosani, Head of the Youth Participation Department at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and Ahmed Al Mahrouqi, Head of the Scientific Team in the Program. The session began with an introductory overview of the programme, during which Hilal bin Saif Al Siyabi, Director General of Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, discussed the idea of the programme.
He said that the Youth Ambassadors Program targets the age group from 18 to 25 years, and seeks to provide young people with the necessary skills to represent the Sultanate of Oman in regional and international forums. And that is done through 3 main activities: Launching an electronic platform on the Ministry’s website that offers a number of registered training courses in a number of fields, namely: (diplomatic, leadership, media, and cultural identity).
He added that a training simulation session will be organized for regional and international meetings, such as the Model United Nations for Youth (MUN), in which the most important global and regional issues facing young people in various countries of the world and the mechanism for their solutions will be presented.
