Oman’s MoCIIP working to strengthen commercial sector in Al Batinah South Governorate

Over 26000 commercial records registered in Al Batinah in 2022

Rustaq: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion is working to develop the economic sector in the Al Batinah South Governorate, in cooperation with the various authorities in the governorate, as (26,657) commercial records were registered in the governorate during the year 2022, compared to (23,915) records in 2022. 2021, which represents an increase of 11.5 percent.

Tariq bin Nasser Al Harasi, Director of the Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Al Batinah South Governorate, explained that the governorate enjoys many elements for the growth of the economy and the increase in the volume of investments. Due to its geographical location in the middle of the Governorate of Muscat, the Governorate of North Al Batinah and the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, it also has all the necessary services and a high population density that qualifies it to attract local and foreign investment opportunities in various sectors, such as the tourism, logistics, manufacturing and fishing sectors.

He said: The Governorate of South Al Batinah contains Khazaen Economic City in the Wilayat of Barka, which is one of the economic cities that attract foreign investments as it provides many facilities for investors, and there is Sandan Industrial City in the Wilayat of Nakhal, which provides many facilities and incentives for various commercial and industrial activities.

He added: The Governorate of South Al Batinah is characterized by a unique nature and important historical and archaeological sites, and is a tourist destination in the Sultanate of Oman, as the “Oman 2040” vision works to develop the tourism sector in the governorate, and encourage investment in it through the establishment of hotels, tourist resorts, and other recreational and tourism facilities, and the promotion of advertising. About tourism products and marketing them at the international level.

The Director of the Department of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Governorate of South Al Batinah explained that within the framework of the “Made in Oman” campaign, which aims to support the industrial sector and promote national products, the department organized during the past year 4 exhibitions of national products in a number of different commercial centers in the governorate, which were well received by the public.

The local community, pointing out that the ministry seeks to expand the base of national products, in order to enhance local production and marketing of national products in the local and international markets. He pointed out that the building and construction contracting sector and the export and import offices sector witnessed a great growth during the past year in the Al Batinah South Governorate, as the two sectors had the highest recorded activities, respectively, as the number of registered activities in the two sectors reached (3147) activities in 2022, and the number of foreign investors registered during Last year, 2022, there were 2,486 investors in the governorate, which reflects the governorate’s attractiveness to foreign investments and the importance of the measures and facilities that have been taken and provided to investors.

Al-Harassi explained that the number of automatic license applications that were submitted through the “Invest Easy” service in the governorate amounted to more than (50) thousand applications, since the start of the service in April 2021 AD until the end of 2022, which confirms the great demand for this service, stressing that the “Invest Easy” platform Easily” contributed to facilitating and accelerating the procedures for establishing and operating companies in the Sultanate of Oman.
