Oman’s MoL conducts midday break awareness drive in Musandam

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) carried out campaigns on Thursday to bring awareness regarding the policy of stopping work at construction sites and open areas during the midday hours in summer months.

In a statement Ministry of Labour said: “The Ministry of Labor, represented by the Labor Department in the Governorate of Musandam, conducted practical awareness at work sites for training on emergency cases and dealing with cases of heat stress at construction sites during the period from June to August.”

The three-month midday break set to begin from June 1 with outdoor employees suspending work between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Companies in Oman that do not comply face heavy fines.

Under Article 16 of Ministerial Decision No 286/2008 outdoor workers in Oman muscat not work in high temperature during the summer months. Working hours are usually split between two shifts based on the midday break hours.
