Oman’s MOL in process to curb the rising cost of domestic workers

His Excellency Sheikh Nasr Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor for Labor, said that the Ministry is in the process of finalizing work on regulations for companies supplying manpower.

This came as part of His Excellency’s answer to a question about the high cost of bringing domestic workers, which amounted to about 2000 riyals, which was discontent among service seekers.

His Excellency added: The process will be more organized, as a service contract will be drawn up according to the hour, month and year, and the service will be legalized, and the process will be electronic.

He stressed that this project comes after reviewing similar experiences of neighboring countries that have implemented it, and identifying all aspects of the project, including their negative aspects, in order to come up with a good project.

This came during the second day of the meeting organized by the Ministry of Labor with Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Governors. The meeting aims to discuss the mechanism of employment in the public and private sectors and investment in the governorates, and to identify the new mechanism adopted by the Ministry of Labor in localizing professions and the challenges facing the governorates.
