Omans Mol organizes ‘Forum on Role of Economic Sectors in Localizing Job Opportunities’

Muscat: Activities of the forum on “The Role of the Economic Sectors in Localizing Job Opportunities and Local Added Value” began at the Oil and Gas Institute today. The event is organized by the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with the National Employment Program (NPE).

Khalid Salim Al Ghamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour said that the forum comes within the efforts made by the Ministry to achieve the goals of economic integration between development sectors and enhance job opportunities for citizens in these sectors.

He affirmed that the “Tawteen” platform seeks to improve the work environment and develop national competencies to meet the needs of various sectors, stressing the importance of companies’ commitment to registering on the platform and using it as a basic means to ensure transparency and efficiency of employment processes.

The activities of the first day of the forum highlighted the most prominent issues and challenges facing the sector of localizing job opportunities and local added value, strategies to enhance the participation of the national workforce and reviewing the efforts made to encourage companies operating in this sector to benefit from the “Tawteen” platform.

The activities of the forum also included working sessions on the importance of employment governance committees in economic sectors, and their pivotal role in achieving coordination between the public and private sectors to ensure the requirements of the labour market.

The forum aims to enhance partnership between various economic sectors, and the importance of activating the “Tawteen” platform to regulate the labour market, by introducing companies to the platform’s features and registration mechanisms.
