Oman’s MOSD celebrates the graduation of 84 people with disabilities

Muscat:  The Ministry of Social Development celebrated the graduation of 84 male and female graduates from the first batch of people with mild and moderate mental, visual, motor, and hearing disabilities, at the Oman Theater at the College of Banking and Financial Studies.

The ceremony was sponsored by Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al-Najjar, Minister of Social Development, in the presence of Eng. Awatif bint Muhareb Al-Salman, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Specialized Human Building Center, and a number of ministry officials.

Eng. Abdul Rahman bin Humaid Al Yahyai, ​​CEO of the Oman Energy Association “OPAL” (which is the strategic partner of the initiative: Be with us for them), said that the group of graduates with disabilities who graduated today spent more than 9 months in training, as 84 graduates graduated. And graduates, and 55 jobs have been provided for them in the private sector.

The initiative will continue for 5 years, and 100 male and female graduates will be enrolled annually. He added that the “Be with us for them” initiative comes to rehabilitate and train people with mild and moderate mental, visual, motor, and hearing disabilities, between the ages of 18-30 years, for a period of 36 weeks, with their employment in a number of private sector institutions, in the fields of customer service, office management, printing and photocopying. The CEO of the Oman Energy Association explained to Oman News Agency that the initiative aims to improve and develop work systems based on the concept of social responsibility, highlight the role of government, private and civil agencies in supporting people with disabilities, and create an integrated institutional community partnership system that promotes identity, citizenship, cohesion and social solidarity.
