Oman’s MSD launches ‘Azm’ brand for products for people with disabilities

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development launched the “Azm” brand to promote products manufactured by people with disabilities to empower them economically by helping them raise awareness of their products and sales.

This came during a celebration held by the Ministry, represented by the General Directorate of Persons with Disabilities, in cooperation with the Bridge Foundation for Charitable Works.

The launch of the trademark was sponsored by His Excellency Qais bin Muhammad Al-Youssef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al-Najjar, Minister of Social Development.

His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, said in the ministry’s speech: “The Sultanate of Oman, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik  pays great attention to persons with disabilities, and works to empower them with their rights and ensure inclusion and equality.”

His Excellency added that empowerment is based on achieving comprehensive, equitable and sustainable development, which is what the “Oman 2040” vision focused on in the strategic direction to provide a decent and sustainable life for all. His Excellency indicated that the Ministry is working to develop programs and services provided to people with disabilities to ensure their rights as stipulated in legislation, laws and agreements by providing rehabilitation programs and services to enable them, leading to their integration into society.

His Excellency stated that the vision of “Oman 2040” is a gateway to overcoming challenges and keeping pace with regional and global changes, developing community welfare and its basic services for all segments of society to provide a decent and sustainable life for all, and creating a conscious, cohesive and economically empowered society, especially for women, children, youth, people with disabilities and the most needy groups.
