Muscat: The construction work of the tunnels project has started on Al Batinah Highway to facilitate smooth flow of traffic, said Oman News Agency (ONA).
“The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has started constructing the tunnels project on the Al Batinah Highway in the North and South Al Batinah governorates to facilitate the flow of traffic, shorten distances and ease traffic congestion, ” Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
The project includes five underpasses for cars located in Al Malada in the Wilayat of Musannah, Al Khabba, Al Subaikhi and Dhayan in the Wilayat of Suwaiq and Al Buraik in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura.
Construction work has begun on the Al Buraik road crossing and preparing traffic diversions on Al Khabba and Al Subaikhi roads in the Wilayat of Suwaiq. The lower crossings measure 4 metres, while the lower crossing of Al Malada Road will have two lanes in each direction, with a height of 5.5 metres and a width of 10.5 metres.
