Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced the launch of the Future Mobility Initiative within the activities of the Oman Sustainability Week scheduled to be held during the period from April 29 to May 1, 2024, which consists of a series of events that support the national goals of sustainability in cooperation with Aamal Company. This initiative comes in response to the urgent need to address carbon emissions. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has initiated dedicated efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the transport, communications and information technology sectors.
The event will highlight innovators in the transport sector who are at the forefront of driving sustainability, advanced technologies, digital solutions, data systems, and solutions. Smart infrastructure, electric and hybrid vehicles, infrastructure, and complementary components that facilitate the sector’s transformational journey.
The Future of Mobility initiative at Oman Sustainability Week will represent an effective platform for pioneers in the transportation industry to showcase the latest concepts, solutions, technologies and innovations in the field of environmental mobility.
This will enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s endeavor to create an economy free of carbon emissions. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore modern trends in the field of clean transportation, interact with experts and industry leaders in the field of future mobility, and see closely the constantly evolving mobility scene. A number of specialists in the transportation sector will participate in Oman Sustainability Week, including Asyad Group, Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah), BP, OQ, Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Company, Petroleum Development Oman, Shell Oman, SLP, and Sohar Aluminium. , Veolia and many other companies.
The Ministry will also present additional initiatives as part of Oman Sustainability Week to support the transition to zero carbon neutrality, which includes adding the “Environmental Mobility” category as part of the Oman Sustainability Week Awards, and including environmental mobility projects and operations as part of the field visits program within the event’s activities.
It is worth noting that Oman Sustainability Week is considered an important national event in the Sultanate of Oman, and is dedicated to the future of energy, electricity, water, waste, environment and society, which is in line with Oman Vision 2040 and its commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2050, and this is reflected in the choice of theme. The next edition of the event is in 2024 and is “Sustainable Living in a Circular Society”.
