Oman’s notary departments sees 35% growth in e-transactions

Muscat: Statistics issued by the Supreme Judicial Council indicated a growth of 35% in the number of transactions issued by notary departments after the implementation of the electronic documentation system for nearly two months compared to the same period last year.

Muhammad Ali bin Saif Al Shuaibi, Director of the Notary Public Department in Al Amerat and supervisor of the system, said: “Implementing the electronic Tawtheeq system contributed to an increase in completed transactions by 35% from the same period last year.”

Muhammad Al Shuaibi added that the Council activated the digital documentation platform in 62 notary departments in various governorates, and this contributed greatly to improving and accelerating the completion of the notary’s work and completing it effectively and smoothly.

Pointing out that employee productivity increased by 35% as a result of converting all transactions to digital transactions. Al Shuaibi confirmed the addition of new services to the Tawtheeq platform, the most important of which is the service of issuing a law agency, which is a written documentation service in which the concerned parties entrust lawyers to carry out legal work on his behalf before all judicial authorities, and the real estate sale agency service, which authorizes the concerned parties to another person to act on his behalf by selling a property.

He stated that the electronic Tawtheeq platform issued more than 50,000 transactions in less than two months, and these transactions were completed without the presence of any paper documents, and procedures were adopted that allow immediate follow-up and tracking of all transactions, making decisions quickly and accurately, and providing better services to auditors in notary departments.

He added: The largest number of notary public electronic transactions were completed in the North Al Batinah Governorate, with 9,336 electronic transactions, and Muscat came second with 6,833 electronic transactions. Notary public departments also issued more than 19,000 various agencies.
