Muscat: The production of refineries and petroleum industries increased by 13.4 percent by the end of October 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. Production of regular automobile fuel (91) increased by 20 percent at the end of last October, with sales rising by 12.2 percent, while liquefied petroleum gas, paraxylene, and gasoline products led to an increase in exports, recording increases of 173.8 percent, 439.8 percent, and 184.3 percent, respectively, according to what Referred to by preliminary statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.
Statistics indicated that the production of automobile fuel (91) reached about 13 million 600 thousand and 600 barrels by the end of October 2023, while its sales amounted to 12 million 161 thousand and 200 barrels, compared to a decrease in the production of automobile fuel (95) by 12.9 percent, recording 10 million 616 thousand and 100 barrels. Its sales also decreased to 10 million 97 thousand and 200 barrels.
The production of gas oil (diesel) rose by 14.3 percent, recording 29 million 896 thousand and 100 barrels, and its sales recorded 11 million 935 thousand and 500 barrels. Aviation fuel production also rose by 35.1 percent, recording 8 million 631 thousand barrels, and its sales recorded 3 million 661 thousand and 300 barrels. Liquefied petroleum gas production recorded an increase of 28.7 percent, reaching 6 million and 947 thousand barrels. With regard to petrochemicals, gasoline production increased by 137.9 percent, recording 127,400 metric tons, while production of paraxylene reached 431,400 metric tons, an increase of 410.4 percent, and polypropylene production increased by 9 percent, recording 222,900 metric tons.
The Sultanate of Oman’s exports of automobile fuel amounted to (91) million and 221 thousand and 900 barrels, while exports of fuel (95) until the end of October 2023 amounted to about 580 thousand and 400 barrels, a decrease of 78.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022, while exports of Gas oil (diesel) 17 million 800 thousand and 900 barrels, and aviation fuel 5 million 37 thousand and 600 barrels, an increase of 31.3 percent, while exports of liquefied petroleum gas amounted to 449 thousand and 200 barrels. Paraxylene exports also reached 434,500 metric tons, while gasoline exports recorded 133,600 metric tons, and polypropylene exports increased by 13.8 percent, recording 202,400 metric tons.
