Muscat: The doctors of the Royal Hospital in the Department of Endoscopy succeeded in installing a gastric feeding tube for a two-year-old child who weighs only 4 kilograms using an oral endoscope without the need for surgery, and the installation process took less than half an hour.
This tube helps the child provide him with the necessary nutrition and avoid the nasal tube, which needs to be replaced twice a month, while the gastric tube remains for about a year before it is replaced with a small rubber piece.
It is reported that the procedure was performed under general anesthesia, followed by the child’s stay in the intermediate care for a few hours before he went home in good health.
