Muscat: In order to keep pace with changes in telecommunications markets; The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) makes amendments to the Access and Interconnection Regulations.

In a statement TRA said: Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Amending the access and interconnection regulations Issuing a regulation Overview Amending the Access and Interconnection Regulations issued in 2016; To promote sustainable competition in the telecommunications sector and ensure the provision of access services And interconnection based on fair foundations.

Most notable modifications

Excluding the part of the provisions for settling disputes in access and interconnection agreements.

Delete services annexes related to the previous decision to define markets and dominance.

Objectives

Simplifying provisions to ensure their effectiveness.

Avoid overlap in jurisdictions between different legislation.

Aligning the regulation with changes in defining telecommunications markets and establishing dominance in them.
