Oman’s Zakat Funds Provides OMR 14 million in Aid in 2022

The distributed Zakat funds in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to OMR 14 million in 2022 benefiting more than 130,000 people, said His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

His Excellency the Minister said that the distributed zakat funds amounted to OMR 14 million last year, benefiting more than 130,000 people. He added that the number of mosques in the Sultanate of Oman currently is 13,935, of which 1,770 are big mosques. His Excellency said that the Ministry is currently working on updating the Endowment Law.

His Excellency pointed out that the National Register of Endowments is a cultural heritage of the Omani society, stressing the importance of maximising the benefit from endowments and considering the new investments that have greater returns without exposing the endowment to the risk of losing their assets and returns.

This came during His Excellency’s interview with the “With Youth” show on Oman TV.
