Muscat: The value of business tasks awarded to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through Oman Telecommunications Company “Omantel” stood at more than RO 3 million as at the end of the second quarter of 2023.
The business, which benefits 17 SMEs, constitutes an embodiment of ongoing cooperation between the two parties. As part of this cooperation, the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) and Omantel recently conducted four workshops in different governorates to share business ideas.
As many as 56 entrepreneurs and owners of SMEs attended the workshops, which were held within the context of the “Supplier Development Initiative” aimed at providing training in the field of specialized contracts, procurements and opportunities to maximize benefits from Omantel business offers.
In December 2022, ASMED signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Omantel, with the prime aim of providing technical and advisory support to SMEs registered with the Authority, empowering the entrepreneurship sector and maximizing in-country added value (ICV).
