Omantel launches national cloud in line with the requirements of digital revolution

Muscat: Omantel, in cooperation with Huawei, launched a national cloud that provides the latest global technologies and expertise and enhances the security and hosting of local data for various sectors that include government institutions and companies, including the financial sector, energy, health, and others.

The national cloud was designed to be in line with the requirements of the digital revolution, such as smart cities, smart banking services, smart campuses, government data solutions, smart education, and digital human solutions. This will accelerate digital transformation and support the digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman.

The ceremony was sponsored by His Excellency Engineer Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

Eng. Aladdin bin Abdullah Bait Fadel, Chief Commercial Officer at Omantel, said: The company seeks to provide its system with the latest technologies and integrated solutions, explaining that the national cloud will open new horizons for Omantel subscribers to keep pace with developments and obtain services with a high level of quality and security.

He added: The cloud will provide the best global practices in this field to ensure data security while ensuring that the data is hosted in the Sultanate of Oman, noting that this partnership will contribute positively to the digital economy, and the national cloud project will enable various public sector institutions. In particular, it supports the goals of Oman 2040 Vision.

For his part, Qi Xiao, CEO of Business Computing Business in the Middle East and Central Asia at Huawei – Oman, said: This partnership comes after the two companies achieved during the recent period the implementation of many successful projects in the Sultanate of Oman, and that the company’s choice to support “Omantel” in the cloud Al Wataniya is one of the projects of great importance at the national level, which will play a major role in digital transformation.
