Muscat: Imprisonment not more than two years and a fine up to OMR 50,000 penalties will be imposed on anyone for dumping of waste or any other materials of any kind, shape or condition in the marine environment without a permit from the Oman’s Environment Authority.
In a statement Oman’s Environment Authority said: The law of Environment Protection and Pollution Control prohibits the dumping of waste or any other materials of any kind, shape or condition in the marine environment without a permit from the Environment Authority. It also specified a penalty for violators of imprisonment for a period of no less than a month and not more than two years and a fine of no less than OMR 5,000 and no more than OMR 50,000 or by one of these two penalties.
