In a statement Office for Conservation of Environment (OCE) said: The Environmental Preservation Office stated that the Ras Al-Shajar Nature Reserve witnessed, on Tuesday evening, a sniping incident of a number of Arabian gazelles, and a threat to the lives of judicial officers with weapons while performing their job duties.

It also said, In cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and the vehicle used in the wildlife violation was seized. In it, a night binoculars, a flashlight, a knife, and bags containing 6 Arabian gazelles were found, which were caught by bullets and slaughtered.

Efforts are still being made by the police to arrest the rest of the perpetrators who fled from the site to the mountains after they used the weapon and directed it to the judicial police officers from the wildlife watchers and referred them to justice, added in the statement OCE.

The Environmental protection office of the diwan of the royal court affirms that the security of employees and citizens is above all else, except that criminal behavior such as felony hunting incidents may go beyond hunting a protected animal, and reach recklessness and a threat to human lives. Therefore, the office demands the application of the maximum degree of punishment according to the regulatory laws. said in the statement OCE.
