Online fraud: 7 expats arrested in Oman, ROP urge public to be cautious

Muscat: Muscat Governorate Police Command, in cooperation with the General Department of Investigations and Criminal Investigations, arrests Seven expats on charges of electronic fraud.

The criminal method for fraudsters is to send text messages via mobile phone to a group of people that includes a request from a bank to call the phone number attached to the message to activate their bank cards, and during the call, bank data are taken from the victims and withdraw money from their accounts

And the Royal Oman Police calls for not to be led by anonymous messages, communications or links and not to provide anyone with any personal data, such as the credit card number, the password and the bank account number, so that the perpetrator cannot reach what he wants.
