OPAZ Board of Directors approves measures to Unify Usufruct Fees for SEZAD -based firms

Muscat: The Board of Directors (BoD) of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) today held its third meeting of the year (2023) during which it approved measures to unify usufruct fees for lands allocated to companies providing services in the Special Economic Zone in Duqm (SEZAD).

The meeting, held in Muscat, was chaired by Dr. Ali Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of OPAZ Board of Directors.

The meeting also endorsed the general framework of the 2024 plan for OPAZ and the zones under its supervision. The plan will be presented before the Council of Ministers.

The meeting discussed a number of topics, most notably the relationship between OPAZ and the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), with a view to regulating the electricity sector at SEZAD.

The BoD of OPAZ gave directives to apply the aforementioned measures to the rest of free zones and industrial cities under the Authority’s supervision.

The meeting also looked into proposals for extending the period of usufruct fee exemption in favour of local companies operating in the areas supervised by the Authority. -ONA
