OQ Signs Agreement to Provide 100 Overseas Scholarships for Omani Students
Muscat: OQ Group, in cooperation with OQ Trading Company, signed an agreement with Takatuf Oman to provide 100 international scholarships under the “Oman Pioneers” programme over five years, with 20 scholarships allocated annually.
The programme enables Omani students to study at a number of international universities.
The initiative comes within OQ Group’s efforts to support the development of national talents equipped with the skills and knowledge required to contribute to a knowledge-based economy. It also reflects the ongoing partnership between OQ and Takatuf Oman in developing human capital through educational and professional pathways aligned with labour market needs and economic developments.
Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Lawati, Chief Human Resources and Technology Officer at OQ, said that investment in national talent represents a key pillar of the company’s long-term strategy.
He added that the “Oman Pioneers” programme continues to provide educational and development opportunities that contribute to preparing national cadres capable of keeping pace with future changes and supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The “Oman Pioneers” programme aims to build national knowledge capital by preparing Omani students with advanced academic skills and international educational experiences.
Students enrolled in the programme study disciplines aligned with national priorities under Oman Vision 2040 and gain exposure to international research and academic environments, contributing to the development of the knowledge economy and strengthening national capabilities.
Since its launch, the programme has supported 122 male and female students through OQ and its subsidiaries. A total of 67 graduates currently work within OQ Group, while 10 graduates are employed in institutions outside the Sultanate of Oman.
