OQ Launches Sustainability Report During Oman Sustainability Week 2026

Muscat:  OQ Group today launched its annual sustainability report during Oman Sustainability Week 2026, highlighting its efforts to integrate sustainability practices across operations and governance frameworks in line with Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate of Oman’s target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA).

The report, titled “Responsible Impact – Sustainable Value,” outlines OQ’s strategy to balance operational efficiency with environmental and social responsibility through four strategic pillars: climate action, nature protection, human capital development and sustainable growth leadership.

The report stated that OQ expanded its renewable energy portfolio to more than 2,000 megawatts and signed power purchase agreements for over 740 megawatts from wind and solar energy projects.

OQ also automated greenhouse gas emissions inventory management across all subsidiaries, contributing to improving data accuracy, transparency and disclosure. The group achieved 100 percent of its corporate greenhouse gas reduction targets for 2025.

The report noted that local value added retained within the Sultanate of Oman increased by 24 percent compared to 2024, while spending on small and medium enterprises reached approximately RO 117.7 million, supporting local content and economic growth.

The group also continued investments in innovation and digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency and support sustainable financial and environmental performance.

According to the report, the Omanisation rate at OQ reached 88 percent, alongside delivering more than 2,300 specialised training hours in health, safety and environment fields.

On the environmental side, OQ maintained zero freshwater consumption across its operations and continued implementing biodiversity protection and circular economy initiatives.
