Organisation of Islamic Cooperation appoints Amina bint Obaid al Hajriyah as Director General of cultural, family & Social affairs

Muscat: The Organization for Islamic Cooperation appoints Dr. Amina Bint Obaid Al Hajriah as Director General of the Organization’s Cultural, Social and Family Affairs Department.

In a statement to Oman News Agency, Dr. Amina Al-Hajriya said that through the Organization’s Department of Cultural, Social and Family Affairs, she seeks to enhance cultural cooperation between member states, to establish a culture of openness and cultural diversity, and to protect Islamic cultural heritage by introducing it and preserving it from extinction.

She indicated that the administration is concerned with files related to the empowerment of women and the issues of children with disabilities and orphans, as it is concerned with the family as an important nucleus and a fundamental unit of society, and it takes care of youth and maximizes their various roles.

It is worth noting that Dr. Amina Al-Hajriya had held the position of Assistant Director-General at the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), as the first woman to occupy this high position in the organizations of the Islamic world.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is an organization that was founded in 1969 and was formerly known as the Organization of the Islamic Conference, with its permanent headquarters in Jeddah, the Saudi Arabia and includes 57 Islamic countries.
