Muscat: The Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) Board of Directors during its first meeting, approved the federation’s calendar for the current year, which included a set of local and international programmes, competitions and various participations of national teams in a number of international and regional tournaments.
The Council also approved the appointment of the Iranian Fatima Kifani as coach of the national girls’ team, and the members of the federation discussed the final preparations for holding the regular general assembly meeting of the federation for this year. The national teams program was also discussed and the study of the Sultanate of Oman schools project for table tennis was discussed.
The council approved the federation’s calendar for the current year, which included a variety of internal and external competitions, activities and programmes, such as holding championships for the age stages, holding a school championship in the governorates again, studying the establishment of a Ramadan championship in addition to the internal and external camps included for national teams and implementing courses for referees and coaches and other programs and activities.
This was followed by a discussion of the special preparations for the Federation’s Ordinary General Assembly meeting, which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, March 29, where those concerned with the Federation were assigned to complete all organizational and logistical preparations and prepare administrative, sports and financial reports, while following up on the file of requests for clubs wishing to join the Federation in order to present them to the General Assembly meeting for approval.
The program of the national teams for this year was also reviewed, as some of the upcoming participations of the team were approved, including participation in the West Asian Junior Championship qualifiers in Iraq from 13 to 19 March, as well as participation in some international WTT tournaments, as well as the establishment of external camps for the team during the period Mid- and end-of-year leave, in Iran or India.
The Board of Directors of the Federation approved the appointment of the Iranian Fatima Kifani as coach of the national team for girls, as Kifani’s choice for this position came after reviewing several CVs by the committee formed to select the coach.
The members of the Board of Directors of the Federation were briefed on the details of the study of the Sultanate of Oman Schools for Table Tennis project, where some details were presented about the program, the implementation mechanism, and the number of governorates, schools and centers targeted by this project. Some members suggested developing the technical aspects of the project and expanding the number of beneficiaries. During the meeting, a number of incoming messages of the Union Post, and the necessary measures have been taken regarding them.
