Muscat: Knowledge Oasis Muscat, affiliated to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates “Madayn”, currently includes more than 200 governmental and semi-governmental companies and institutions, including international companies in the information and communication technology sector, with an investment size of OMR 266 million, and a workforce of 3,958. employees with an Omanisation rate of 67 percent.
Engineer Jaafar bin Muhammad Al-Ajmi, Director General of Knowledge Oasis Muscat, confirmed that the oasis is currently witnessing the implementation of a number of investment and strategic projects, and other projects that are expected to enter the construction phase during this year.
He explained in a statement to Oman News Agency that one of these projects is the satellite communications station with an investment exceeding RO 4 million. This project is classified as one of the promising economic projects for the Sultanate of Oman in general and for Oasis and the Corporation in particular. Due to the qualitative shift that this project is making in the telecommunications services sector, banking, oil, commercial, educational, government and other services, stimulating initiatives and innovation, and encouraging the introduction and adoption of modern technologies in these sectors in the Sultanate of Oman during the next stage.
He said: The satellite communication station project has entered the construction phase, and it is expected that the station will be ready for operation during the third quarter of this year.
He added, “Among the projects is also the construction of an international school on the Oasis campus on an area of 43,000 square meters, with an investment exceeding RO 8 million. Starting construction work on the project during the third quarter of this year.
Al-Ajmi added that there is a multi-storey parking building project in the oasis on an area of 12,000 square meters, with a capacity of 1,500 parking spaces in the first phase, and it can be increased in the future to 2,500 parking spaces, in addition to shops for car accessories, workshops for car service and care, and facilities that serve parking users.
It is expected that the implementation of the project will start during the fourth quarter of this year, in addition to the implementation of a bus station for passenger transport and a cafe that provides a drive-through service.
The Oman Towers Company will also implement the first decorated tower in Knowledge Oasis Muscat, based on the agreement signed by Madayn with the company to build decorative towers in the cities affiliated with Madayn. The completion of the tower is expected before the end of this year.

This project contributes to raising the efficiency of the infrastructure and accommodating more investment projects. In promising economic sectors, such as technology, communications and knowledge-based businesses, in addition to educational institutions, advanced training centers and other projects supporting these sectors. And he indicated that this project is relied upon to transform the oasis into a more attractive environment for growth and attracting investments, in a way that enhances the oasis’s competitiveness locally and regionally, and enhances Madayn’s vision to provide world-class business cities.
He added: The project included the implementation of an internal road network with a total length of 7.7 km, which was covered with the latest surveillance systems, as the number of cameras reached 51, in addition to providing it with 286 solar-powered poles to illuminate all streets. for bicycles with a length of 5.9 km, and the implementation of green spaces on about 12 square meters, in addition to a water network with a length of 5.4 km, rainwater drainage channels with a length of 5.8 km, a sewage network with a length of 4.8 km, and a fire extinguishing network with a length of 5.5 km, indicating that more than 75 percent of the materials and components used in the project are locally produced.
