Over 200,000 people visited Jebel Akhdar in 2022 

Al Jabal Al Akhdar: As many as 208,423 people visited the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar (the Green Mountain) in 2022, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Due to its moderate summer and relatively very cold winter, the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar stands out as a unique tourist destination that boasts a year-round turnout of visitors, who set out, from their accommodations in modern hotel facilities, to explore the adjoining mountains and practicing many types of related sports.

Al Jabal Al Akhdar is also unique in Oman in the sense that it is home to many agricultural crops like pomegranates, grapes, peaches, apricots, roses and other farming products. The villages of the Wilayat house a number of ancient buildings that attract large numbers of tourists from various Arab, Asian, European and American countries.

NCSI statistics show that 112,619 Omani citizens visited Al Jabal Al Akhdar in 2022, in addition to 13,428 tourists from Saudi Arabia, 1,543 from the United Arab Emirates, 1,236 from Kuwait, 746 from Qatar and 51 from Bahrain.

As many as 6,041 tourists visited Al Jabal Al Akhdar from other Arab countries, while 72,294 tourists are from foreign countries.

Al Jabal Al Akhdar is also famous for ecotourism and adventure tourism in Oman, in addition to outdoor activities such as walking in valleys, visiting caves and mountain climbing. These activities in turn contributes to the tourists’ getting exposure to the local culture in the wilayat.
