Over 217,000 Heads of Livestock Authorized for Import to Meet Demand in Oman
Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has authorized the import of 217,370 heads of livestock to meet current demand in the Sultanate of Oman.
Dr. Samah Mahmoud Al Sharif, Director of Veterinary Quarantine, said that the Ministry took steps to supply the local market with livestock and red meat in coordination with livestock import companies.
Dr. Samah pointed out that the Ministry streamlined procedures for livestock import companies, noting that the imports this year include 87,755 heads of goats, 120,565 heads of sheep, 6,550 heads of cattle and 2,500 camels. The staff at the veterinary quarantine would apply health procedures to all consignments of imported livestock, she added.
