Over 280,000 Omanis working in private sector until October 2022

Muscat: The number of insured Omanis working in the private sector at the end of October 2022 reached 284,803 Omanis, compared to 284,741 Omanis at the end of September 2022, according to the monthly statistical bulletin issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.

The data showed that the Governorate of Muscat topped the total number of Omanis working in the private sector by the end of October 2022, with a number of 89 thousand and 22 Omanis, constituting 31.3%, followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 49 thousand and 891 Omanis, then the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah with 36 thousand and 887 Omanis, and their number reached the Governorate of 27,506 Omanis in South Al Batinah, 20,857 Omanis in the Dhofar Governorate, 19,369 Omanis in the North A’Sharqiyah Governorate, 17,820 Omanis in the A’Sharqiyah South Governorate, 13,879 Omanis in the Dhahirah Governorate, and 5,356 Omanis in the Al Buraimi Governorate. Omanis, and their number reached 2,675 Omanis in the Al Wusta Governorate and 1,541 Omanis in the Musandam Governorate.

The data indicated that 49.2% of Omanis working in the private sector were insured with a wage category ranging from 325 to less than 500 riyals per month at the end of October 2022, including 89 thousand and 830 Omanis who receive a monthly wage between 325 to less than 400 riyals, and 50 thousand and 289 Omanis earn a monthly wage between 400 and less than 500 riyals, and 35 thousand and 276 Omanis receive a monthly wage between 500 and less than 600 riyals, and 22 thousand and 76 Omanis receive a monthly wage between 600 and less than 700 riyals, while 14 thousand and 635 Omanis receive a wage per month ranging from 700 to less than 800 Omani riyals, and 10 thousand and 761 Omanis earn a monthly wage between 800 and less than 900 riyals, and 8 thousand and 600 Omanis earn a monthly wage between 900 and less than 1000 riyals, while 35 thousand and 408 Omanis receive a monthly wage ranging between Between 1,000 and less than 2,000 riyals, and 17 thousand and 928 Omanis earn more than two thousand Omani riyals.

With regard to the number of Omanis working in the private sector who are insured according to occupational groups by the end of October 2022, the data showed that there are 53,761 Omanis working in clerical professions, 50,087 Omanis working in basic and auxiliary engineering professions, and 48,155 in the professions of general administration and business managers. And 42,158 Omanis work in the service professions, while the number of Omanis working in the professions of specialists in scientific, technical and humanitarian subjects reached 32,324 Omanis, and in the professions of technicians in scientific, technical and humanitarian subjects 27,004 Omanis, and in the professions of sales 15,859 Omanis, and in the professions 14,865 Omani industrial and chemical processes and food industries, and 590 Omanis in the professions of agriculture, animal and bird husbandry, and hunting.

According to economic activity, the data showed that most of the insured Omanis working in the private sector were concentrated in the construction professions, as their number reached 52,924 Omanis, while their number in wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles reached 42,828 Omanis, and in the manufacturing industries 34,911 Omanis. 33,767 Omanis in mining and quarrying, 23,347 Omanis in administrative and support services, 23,72 Omanis in transportation and storage activities, and 19,739 Omanis in financial and insurance activities.

Expatriate workers

According to the bulletin, the total number of expatriate workers in the Sultanate of Oman reached 1,662,619 expatriate workers at the end of October 2022, compared to 1,636,931 expatriate workers at the end of September 2022. Their number in the government sector reached 25,426 workers, and 1,346,208 in the private sector. workers, and in the family sector 290,985 workers.

Most of the expatriate workers in the private and family sectors are concentrated in the basic and auxiliary engineering professions, as their number reached 696,804 expatriate workers, 511,381 expatriate workers in the service professions, 108,720 expatriate workers in the professions of industrial and chemical processes and food industries, and 96 thousand and 871 expatriate workers in sales professions.

By economic activity, most of the expatriate workers are concentrated in the construction professions, with a number of 438,018 expatriate workers, 243,365 work in wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and 228 thousand and 226 work in the activities of households that employ individuals and the activities of households in production Undistinguished goods and services for their own use, while the number of expatriate workers in manufacturing industries reached 191,789 workers, and 122,966 workers in accommodation and food services activities.
