Muscat: More than 371000 tons of fish have been landed by artisanal fishing in the Sultanate by the end of June 2023

Artisanal fishing constituted 93.9% of fish landed in the Sultanate of Oman at the end of June 2023 to stand at 371,647 tons, going up by 5% compared to the same period in 2022, which stood at 353,950 tons.

The value of landed fish stood at RO 195.884 million. Initial statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the amount of fish landed through commercial fishing stood at 20,724 tons.

Meanwhile, fish landed through coastal fishing reached 3,059 tons. The highest amount of fish landed through artisanal fishing was recorded in the Governorate of Al Wusta (144,707 tons), followed by the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah with 110,593 tons.

The amount of landed fish in other governorates came as follows: 42,128 tons in Dhofar, 37,553 tons in North Al Batinah and South Al Batinah, 21,938 in Musandam and 14,727 tons in Muscat.
