Over 43% increase in 3-5 star hotel guests in Oman in 2021

Muscat: The total number of guests in 3-5 star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman until the end of Dec 2021 stood at 1,219,303 compared to 851,757 guests by Dec 2020, comprising a rise by 43.2 %, according to the latest data issues by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI)

The Total revenues of 3-5 star hotels grew by 19.2% by Dec 2021 to reach RO 101.668mn compared to RO 85.292mn by the same period in 2020.

Hotel occupancy rates went up by 44.9% from 26.5% by the end of Dec 2020 to 38.3% by the end of December 2021.

The number of Arab guests scored the highest increase by 97.3% from 24,154 guests by Dec 2020 to 47,644 guests by Dec 2021. This was followed by the surge in Asian guests by 93.5% to reach 141,136 guests by December 2021 compared to 72,930 guests by the end of the same period in 2020. Meanwhile, the number of European guests decline by 40.3% from 176,820 guests by the end of Dec 2020 to 105,558 guests b by the end of Dec 2021.

Among the nationalities, Omani guests constituted the maximum number of hotel guests by accounting for 67% of the total guests. Their number stood at 814.518 guests by Dec 2021 compared to 487,804 guests by the end of the same period in 2020.
