Muscat: The total commercial agencies submitted to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion during the first half 2023 is about 853 commercial agencies, represented by (183) new commercial agencies, (458) renewed commercial agencies, and (38) agencies Amended commercial, and (174) canceled agencies.
Yaqoub bin Shaikh Al-Dabouni, Head of the Commercial Agencies Registration Department at the Commercial Registry Secretariat at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, confirmed that the Ministry monitors commercial agencies and determines their compliance with the law, noting that the application for registration of commercial agencies is submitted through the online portal “Invest Easy” with the aim of facilitating the registration process. Investors and follow up their transactions with ease, or through service providing offices (Sanad, law firms and auditing offices).
He said that the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion calls on commercial agents registered in the Register of Commercial Agents and Agencies to submit requests to renew the registration of their commercial agency contracts one month before their expiration date in order to avoid the penalties stipulated in Article (19) of the Commercial Agencies Law No. 26/77, with the need to submit the necessary documents. Indicating the continuity of those contracts, stressing that the agency registration will be canceled if 90 days have passed since its expiry date.
