Over 81,000 SMEs registered in Oman, 47% rise by July

Muscat: The total number of micro, small and medium enterprises registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in the Sultanate of Oman at the end of last July increased by 47 percent to 81,460, compared to 55,491 during the same period in 2021.

The data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information indicated that the Governorate of Muscat recorded the largest number of small, small and medium enterprises at the end of July 2022 , with a number of 27,399 enterprises, and the Governorate of North Al Batinah came in second place, with 12,538 enterprises, while the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah came In third place with 9,104 institutions, Dhofar Governorate ranked fourth with 8,584 institutions, and South Al Batinah Governorate ranked fifth, with 5,975 institutions.

The Governorate of Dhofar topped the growth in the number of micro, small and medium enterprises during this period by 84 percent. The Musandam Governorate came in second place with a growth rate of 70.7 percent, and the Al Wusta Governorate third with a growth rate of 66.8 percent, and the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate ranked fourth with a growth rate of 51.4 percent. And South Al Sharqiyah Governorate fifth, with a growth rate of 48.9%, while Al Dhahirah Governorate achieved the lowest growth rate in the number of small, small and medium enterprises by the end of July 2022, at 32 percent compared to the end of July 2021.
