Muscat: As part of the efforts made to follow up and resolve consumer complaints, the Consumer Protection Department in South Al Batinah Governorate (Barka), in cooperation with the parties to the complaint managed to recover OMR1720 for a consumer in the contracting and building materials sector.

The Consumer Protection Department in South Al Batinah Governorate had received a complaint from a consumer against a supplier working in the contracting and building materials sector, with whom he had previously agreed to purchase ceramics with certain specifications, to be delivered to him at a specific time. Although the consumer has paid OMR1720, the value of the purchases, the supplier did not commit to supplying the ceramics on time, in addition to delaying delivery later.

After the consumer received the ceramics after a long period of waiting, it became clear to him that there were defects in the ceramics. He therefore submitted his complaint the Consumer Protection Department in South Al Batinah Governorate (Barka), which immediately began the procedures followed by summoning the parties to the complaint, and discussing it. An amicable settlement was reached between them to recover the amount paid to the consumer.
