Muscat: The number of Passenger traveling through Sultanate Airports decreased more than 70% until Dec 2020

In a statement Oman news agency said: The number of passengers traveling through the Sultanate’s airports (Muscat International, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm) until the end of December 2020 decreased by 74.3%, and their number reached 4 million, 565 thousand and 676 passengers, according to the preliminary data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.

Among the nationalities  India, Bangladesh and Pakistan recorded the most moving at Muscat International Airport during the month of December 2020, as the number of Indian travelers reached 55,996 passengers (arrivals 25,404 and departures 30,592) and from Bangladeshi nationality 24,367 passengers (arrivals 8,745 and departures 15,622) and of the Pakistani nationality, 18,082 passengers (arrivals 8105 and departures 9,977).

While the domestic flights through Muscat International Airport recorded a decrease of 61.6% to reach 3,991 flights with 390,396 passengers traveling on board, a decrease in the number of passengers by 65.1%. The number of arrivals on domestic flights at Muscat International Airport reached 197,604 passengers, a decrease of 64.4%. While the number of departures reached 192,792 passengers, a decrease of 65.7 percent compared to the end of December 2019.

As for Salalah Airport until the end of December 2020, the number of passengers reached about 386,658, a decrease of 71.7%. They traveled on board of 3,398 flights, a decrease of 71.2% compared to the end of December 2019, and the number of international flights through Salalah Airport until the end of December 2020 reached one thousand And 275 flights, a decrease of 74 percent over the same period in 2019, as 134 thousand and 440 passengers traveled on board, a decrease of 74.6 percent.

The number of domestic flights through Salalah Airport amounted to 2,123 flights, a decrease of 69.3 percent, and 252,218 passengers traveled, a decrease of 69.8 percent, as those coming from them reached 123,482 passengers, a decrease of 70.4 percent, and departures 128,736 passengers, a decrease of 69.3 percent. Until the end of December 2020, about 68,714 passengers traveled on 534 international flights (33,962 arrivals and 34,752 passengers departed). As for Duqm airport, it received 328 flights carrying 24,805 passengers, a decrease in the number of passengers by 57.6 percent. Compared to the end of December 2019, as 12,754 passengers arrived, and 12,51 passengers arrived.
