PDO signs MoC with Borets to Establish Local Manufacturing Facilities in Oman 

Muscat: Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) signed today a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with Borets company to establish local manufacturing facilities in Oman to produce Permanent Magnet Motors (PMM) and industrial power cables, including electric submersible pump (ESP) cables, which is a first in the region.

The two manufacturing facilities are expected to operate with an annual capacity of 3,000 km of power cables and 2,400 PMMs. They will jointly create around 180 job opportunities with an Omanisation rate of up to 85% within five years of commercial operations.”

PDO External Affairs and Value Creation Director Eng. Abdul-Amir Al Ajmi, who signed the agreements on behalf of PDO, said: “The signing of this agreement strengthens PDO’s commitment to driving ICV in well engineering, and it marks another milestone in expanding local capabilities in this key industry.

“The facilities are expected to enhance supply chain value, serve local and regional demand for industrial power cable and PMMs. and they also provide a great opportunity in terms of technology transfer and creation of employment.”

Borets CEO Vlad Kondratiev said: “Borets is excited to be part of this promising initiative and looks forward to manufacturing its top quality products in Oman.”
