Muscat: The sky of the Sultanate of Oman is witnessing a Perseids meteor shower that will last until 24 August, peaking from the night of Saturday 12 August to early hours of Sunday 13 August.
Ashwaq Nasser Al Siyabi, member of the Executive Committee of the Oman Astronomical Society, told Omani News Agency (ONA) that an ideal way of observing the phenomenon is to monitor the meteor shower from a dark location, away from sources of light, pollution or any obstacles like tall trees.
Ashwaq pointed out that a stargazer may watch out for the showers on the northeast close to Perseus tower, which is the apparent source of the midnight Saturday-Sunday meteors. Stargazers and astrophotography amateurs will have an opportunity to capture the dazzling view that can be clearly observed with bare eyes.
