Oman seizes pork meat in a grocery store in North Al Batinah

Muscat: The General Directorate of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate was able to seize a commercial store (grocery) that was trading and selling quantities of pork without obtaining a license from the competent authorities.

The details of the incident are due to the Directorate monitoring information indicating that a grocery store in one of the commercial centers in the North Al Batinah Governorate sold and traded quantities of pork. In light of this, the judicial investigation team moved to the commercial center in order to confirm the authenticity of the incident and track down its perpetrators, so the seller in the store was arrested. By selling the product to a consumer; Accordingly, the accused was caught red-handed with the seized items that exceeded five kilograms, which were stored in a refrigerator in the store. In light of this, the specialists violated the store and seized the seized items in preparation for their destruction and preventing their circulation. The necessary legal measures are being taken, as this act is considered a violation of the provisions of Article ( 3) which stipulates that ((It is prohibited to trade in any commodity or provide any service before fulfilling all conditions related to health and safety and obtaining licenses or approvals from the concerned authority, as indicated in the regulations)) and Article 21 which stipulates that ((The supplier is obligated to respect… Religious values, customs and traditions when providing the consumer with any good or receiving any service)).

The Authority confirms that it is committed to confronting anyone who dares to violate the rights of consumers and harm them, and to take all measures to ensure the preservation of all rights of society in accordance with the provisions of the law. It calls on consumers to report any violations that the consumer may notice, through its various communication channels.
