Committee of the Sur Maritime Heritage Festival completes preparations to launch

Sur: The organizing committee of the Sur Maritime Heritage Festival has completed its preparations for the launch of its activities, the festival begins from Sunday 25 February 2024 in the Wilayat of Sur in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, at Al Sunaysila Fort.

Dr. Sheikh Hilal bin Ali Al Habsi, Governor of Sur, Chairman of the Festival Organizing Committee, confirmed the completion of preparations for the launch of the Sur Festival, which will continue till March 9, and includes various entertainment, promotional and cultural activities that achieve many economic and social goals and implications and activate its outcomes aimed at enhancing the role of tourism in economic diversification. And support the national economy.

His Excellency explained that the festival comes in celebration of the selection of the State of Sur as the capital of Arab tourism for this year, and constitutes a qualitative addition to the efforts to enrich domestic tourism and enable the governorates to advance their pioneering role in this framework, noting that the forum represents an opportunity to introduce the tourism and cultural components that characterize the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate in general and Sur wilayat in particular.

He stated that the festival activities will be held in several locations, including Al-Sunaysila Fort, Khor Al-Batah, and Ras Al-Hadd Prosecution, in addition to the Tiwi Prosecution, to serve and facilitate the festival’s visitors and avoid crowding.

He added that the festival will address various heritage, tourism and entertainment events and activities, such as the heritage village, another marine village, an exhibition for productive families in which a number of entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises will participate, a honey and dates exhibition, an entertainment and beach games corner, in addition to the cultural and entertainment activities that will be held on the stage designated. Horse racing, boat racing, kite flying, paragliding, and laser shows will decorate the skies of the tourism capital throughout the festival.
