Details of Oman’s 7th National Debating Championship revealed

Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, represented by the General Directorate of Youth, in partnership with the Oman Debate Center, today revealed the details of the seventh national debate championship during the press conference held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in Muscat Governorate.

The tournament aims to introduce young people to the different thinking methods, persuasion skills, and public speaking arts that they must possess, and to enhance the spirit of fair competition and raise the ethics of dialogue, in addition to enhancing society’s perception of debate and its role, and spreading it as a fine art and an essential part of any educational process at all levels, in addition to addressing debate. Societal issues in a systematic way.

Nasser bin Humaid Al Hinai, CEO of the Oman Debate Center, said that the tournament seeks to achieve a clear vision from the beginning of its opening to be the most prominent event annually in the field of training and qualifying Omani youth in the skills of public speaking, debate, and dialogue, with a clear message, which is to build a leadership generation that contributes to the advancement of its society and nation through… Mastering the art of debate by working to develop educational methods and opening broader horizons of logical thinking and critical analysis to the participating youth.”

Al-Hinai added that the seventh national debate championship attracts various institutions of higher education, sports clubs and schools, as registration was opened for various target parties immediately after the conference and will continue for a week, after which all participants will receive a two-day training program.

He pointed out that the tournament will be held in two stages: The first stage is the qualifying stage, where there will be five rounds for the preliminary qualifiers for higher education institutions and sports clubs.
